A tragic accident causes 4 deaths at the intersection of Blackall Street and the Nambour Connection Road. Local residents attend a meeting organised by WCBA and call for changes at the intersection. 25th May 2009 In response to the tragic events of the 8th May the community meets again (attended by Peter Wellington MP for Nicklin) and hears an account of the meeting with Main Roads Minister Craig Wallace who agrees to try to expedite the reports into the accident. A new petition is agreed and the community will march each Wednesday morning at 7 a.m. to support change. Please click here to open the new petition in Word. Once downloaded, sign and return to the secretary. 20th May 2009 Woombye CBA organises a march from the School of Arts in support of changes at the Nambour Connection Road intersection. Many locals attend the march despite the weather. 18th May 2009 At the second community meeting further contact information is provided for local residents to make their voice heard. March 2009 The Woombye & District Community Branch of the Bendigo Bank opened it doors on the 9th March at 5pm. Speeches were made, a ribbon cut and the local school children sang before a sausage sizzle rounded off the evening of celebrations. February 2009 Woombye Community and Business Association commission and approve a new logo for the town. At the same meeting they commission an update to the Woombye website from Bryan Palmer ( Oz Doc Web Design). He would like to thank the previous designer for allowing him to use his ideas in the construction of the new site.
