Woombye; Our Place Our Story

Discovering the stories of Woombye through recorded conversation and photographs

The project is gathering oral recordings from some our long term residents, we are collecting photographs and documents and building a digital library.

The vision of this staged project is to deliver:

= a heritage booklet of significant sites around Woombye

= a walking trail

= an interactive storyboard in a prominent public space.

We are engaging with Council and investigating grant funding options. This is a long-term project with a passionate and determined team.

Most of us have photographs of Woombye. Photographs from the 1960’s & 70’s are just as important to us as the ones from the pioneering days. Do you have photos to share?

Blackall Street Streetscape Placemaking Project

Council have announced a streetscape project for Blackall Street. The capital works budget for the 2020/21 financial year has an allocation ($75K) to undertake scoping and community engagement. With the delivery of the project ($450K) scheduled for the following year.

How this project takes shape will be directly reflective of feedback that Council receives from the community.

The WCBA will actively engage with Council and provide a voice for our business owners, residents and community groups. As a Not For Profit organisation the WCBA can also apply for grant funding to enhance the project outcome. This may include public street art.
